Robert Smith is recognised as one of the most successful trainers in Europe and today bases his training operation in Holland.

He has successfully helped to develop the show jumping careers of many young riders making him a much sought after trainer and mentor.

A variety of training options is available in Holland ranging from one week’s intensive training to annual rider training/management for those serious about pursuing a show jumping career

INTENSIVE TRAINING PROGRAMMES

One week and two week training is available with Robert Smith at his superb facility in Holland (near Eindhoven) for pupils to attend with their own horse/s, either on a weekly or fortnightly basis. Training the Rider to Win (2004) concentrates on improving rider technique in preparation for show jumping competitions. Filmed from his Warwickshire home, Robert gives rider tuition on a variety of horses ranging from novice to intermediate level.

Robert stresses the importance of perfecting the basic techniques. He explains how, in time, these techniques become instinctive in show jumping competitions.

From the ground, Robert demonstrates a variety of easy to follow exercises designed to significantly help riders improve their own performance in the competition arena. He explains, "We don't just train for training's sake. We train for the competition."

If you expect hours of grid work from this DVD, you'll be disappointed! This DVD emphasises that training doesn't have to be complicated. Keep it simple, keep it fresh and keep it focused. The results in the competition arena will then follow naturally.

This DVD also includes behind the scenes footage of Robert Smith at the Royal Windsor Horse Show and at the Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead riding his top horses Mr Springfield, Marius Claudius and Gerry Maguire.
